Objective: To analyze the predisposing factors for VAP in patients admitted to the ICU. Method: Using an integrative literature review with a qualitative approach, scientific articles available in the BVS®, LILACS, MEDLINE, Scielo®, IBECS, and BDENF databases were analyzed. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, nine articles were selected. Results: The analysis of the articles highlighted the lack of knowledge among professionals in relation to prevention “bundles” and the importance of applying all the actions contained in the set. Conclusions: The study described prevention measures and the need for continuing education.
