This evaluative and descriptive study aimed to understand and analyze article-processing practices in the care environments of Basic Health Units and in Family Health Strategies. Data were collected through interviews with the nursing staff of these units and simple, systematic observations. According to these data, deficiencies in professional knowledge exist alongside inappropriate practices such as lack of appropriate disinfectant products, use of incorrect products, inadequacies in package validation, inadequate washing and drying of material, improper purging, and incorrect hand sanitizing, among other irregularities. Front of data refers to the damage pointed negligence, considering that the absence of supplies and conditions necessary for correct processing of articles favors infections related to health care. It is also essential to invest in means that will facilitate education and, consequently, safer practices.Downloads
