Perceptions and social representations of quilombola community about tabanidae (Diptera, Tabanidae) on Marambaia Island, Mangaratiba, Rio de Janeiro

The aim of the study was to identify the perception and social representations that have the quilombola community of Marambaia Island regarding the tabanids, quite common flies across the Island. A questionnaire was proposed to 60 residents. The analysis was developed with stanchion on the Theory of Social Representations. The results indicate that unlike other knowledge that are well incorporated into the daily lives of community and despite being considered “a plague”, tabanids is still virtually unknown subject of the inhabitants of Marambaia island, which may turn out to be productive for the work of health and environmental education.Downloads
